Nostalgic Childhood Bead Box

Growing up I had this pink box full of beads that I'd use to make bracelets. Finding that box 10 years later is very nostalgic to me and it brought up the idea of incorporating them into the garments I own. I decided to embroider pastel coloured beads to symbolize my childhood and bring a playful look to a pair of thrifted jeans. The photos were taken outside in order to gain a sense of youthful memories, playing on the sidewalk.

Thread, Nostalgic Seed Beads, Embroidery needle, White Chalk Stick, Thrifted Jeans
PROCESS
On Illustrator, I drew out the design I wanted to create on the back pockets of my thrifted jeans. I wanted to avoid straight linier motifs because an organic quality can be more relatable to children, as they evoke a sense of warmth and familiarity. Even drawing as a kid, curved lines can be easier to draw, as they require less precision and control compared to straight lines.
Using chalk, one of many nostalgic objects to play with as a kid, I roughly drew the design onto the back pockets in order to plan the placement of the beads.
